Large Size Models - Plus Size Modeling Could Be An Alternate Choice To Standard Modeling
The environment of high fashion modeling can really be a drastic shock to you. If you've never tried your hand at modeling, I suggest you only do so if it is some-thing you really desire to pursue as a career. I've seen a lot of girls have their confidence crushed by agents. But hey, this is entirely part of the game. When my 18-year old step-daughter approached me with a modeling aspiration, I sat her down to ask a series of questions. Number 1 was, "Is this some-thing you really want to do for a living?" Her answer was, "No, I just would like to know that I can do it." Hmm, well that is not good enough. There are a whole lot of things I would like to know I can do, for instance becoming an astronaut, but you won't see me struggling to head into space. My point is that you ought to strive to be a model only if that is the vocation you want. It's not a hobby! It is a full-time dedication. Furthermore, I told her that she wouldn't fit into either category of plus size models or the high fashion models. A size eight is in between.
What's your take on modeling? Do you hate the business or are jealous of the models? You truly shouldn't. All those skinny girls are only doing what they have to in order to meet the designers' demands. They are the ones that make them stay SO thin. And then there are the plus size models. These ladies represent more of what America really looks like. I am talking size twelve and up. That is probably over half of our nation's population. They model the whole thing from lingerie to plus size coats and look gorgeous doing it. But still, you do not see these ladies like you view the high fashion slim models. A perfect example is the TV series, "America's Next Top Model." There were two plus size models this season, but one was already sent home. Most likely the other one will be sent home as well. As one of the competitors alleged, "When have you seen a plus size model on the cover of Vogue?" As unhappy as this seems, the girl does have a valid point.
Okay, so we've made clear that the business for plus size models whether modeling plus size coats or bathing suits is not as impressive as that for high fashion girls. No big revelation there. Although there is quite a demand for plus size coats, swimwear and job path clothes for plus-size women. However, if you do want to pursue a career in modeling and have the chops to do plus-size modeling, then I suggest you send inquiries to the leading organizations on the internet. Attach a few pictures as they direct you to. This is the best way to get your foot in the door.
